Green Glory came with a well timed charge to land the spoils in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown.
The Charles Byrnes-trained gelding had shaped with promise in maiden company and went to post 7/4 on his handicap debut.
He was produced to challenge at the last, by Philip Byrnes, and got on top from Spirit Of Legend on the run-in to record a length success.
“It was great to win that, the same connections won it nine years ago with Sea Light,” said Byrnes.
“He was getting a lot of weight off the second and he gave him a lovely cool ride. He came there and got a great jump at the last.
“He won snug enough without having too much to spare. I'd say two-and-a-half is probably his trip, I'd say two miles is a bit sharp for him. We'll find something again over that trip.
“The syndicate have been very lucky. This is probably the most expensive horse they've ever bought. They've had some great days.”
