The Robert Tyner trained Byerley Babe easily justifed 9/10 favouritism to win the Student Race Festival 9th & 10th April Mares Beginners Chase at Limerick today for owner J.P. McManus and Tyher's stable jockey Philip Enright.
The daughter of Beneficial, a useful hurdler last season, looked comfortable throughout and stayed on well in the straight for an easy three and a quarter lengths win over Hill Rock
Afterwards Tyner's wife Mary Tyner stated “she is a nice, classy mare and we'll try and pick off as many races as we can with her and try to keep her in mares' company; she jumps great.”
