Buyin Buyin back to winning ways under Carroll Buyin Buyin returned to winning ways when staying on strongly under jockey Gary Carroll to land the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race at Naas. A winner on his debut at Dundalk back in March, the Bungle Inthejungle colt carried the colours of Leidiana Marques that night but was subsequently bought by Gaelic Thoroughbreds. Far from disgraced when staying on to finish fourth in the Marble Hill Stakes last time, the Willie Browne trained juvenile was sent off a strongly fancied 8-11f here. Well away from stall seven, he soon disputed the lead with newcomer Mansa Musa as the pair raced a couple of lengths clear of the field. Pushed along over a furlong out, Gary Carroll had to get more serious with his mount in order to see off the determined challenge of the Diego Dias trained debutant but he found a willing partner who found plenty for pressure. Buyin Buyin went on to stretch clear to win easily by two-and-a-half lengths from the staying on Nadowessi with Mansa Musa eventually weakening to finish sixth. Willie Browne, “He was unlucky in Ascot (withdrawn at start) when Charlie Hills horse got upset beside and there was a chain reaction. He gets a bit claustrophobic. Lucky enough he didn’t get injured but it was a long way home! “He’s a fine horse and the chap who bought him first time bought him well for eight grand and the sire has come alive too. “He was strong at the finish and looked like he might get another furlong. He was workmanlike rather than spectacular but I’ll take it. “He’s belonging to Gaelic Thoroughbreds and hopefully we might run him in the Anglesey in a couple of weeks. I think he deserves to go at least and whether he is good enough we’re not sure.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee
