Busy Bach at Tramore for more glory Doneraile, County Cork-based owner/trainer/breeder Paddy Cronin brought his mare, Give Her Bach, a mares beginners chase victor here at the August Festival, back to the Graun Hill venue to land the Tramore Racecourse 2015 Award Handicap Hurdle. A mistake at the last threatened to derail the prominent racer's bid for glory, but the busy daughter of Bach found enough under Pierce Gallagher to fend off Kennedys Mor (5/2 favourite from 3s and bigger earlier) by half a length. Brian Hayes, on the mark in the first on Conduct Yourself, could have done better than fourth here too, if his mount, Teoleena, hadn't made a bad mistake at the last. "I think she is after running eighteen times since the end of March and only three times she didn't bring home money. Place money keeps the bills paid," explained Cronin. "The only thing she needs is good ground. If the ground stays good she might go for a mares chase at Thurles in a fortnight's time. There mightn't be fast ground again until next year after that. "She's a grand mare. She comes out of her races grand, she eats up well, and she'll be in fierce form when she goes home. Pierce is never really hard on her but I'd say today was the hardest race she has had this year." (DM & EM)
