Standing-in for the injured Sean O'Keeffe Max Browne rode his first winner when Latest Exhibition (6s out to 8s) landed the Naas Racecourse 2019 Membership (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race.
The success was providing Paul Nolan with a measure of compensation after his Discorama fell at the last when still in with every chance in the Grade Three novice chase earlier.
O'Keeffe sustained a suspected broken collar-bone off Gracious Gamble in the 2.50 event, and Browne credited agent Ciaran O'Toole for securing this spin.
A grand-son of legendary former trainer Liam, and a son of Martin, the nineteen-year-old explained: "Ciaran rang me about an hour before it and asked me where I was.
"I was lucky enough to be at home in Kildare because I live in Navan, so I'm delighted to have got it.
"It was my first ride for the Nolans. They're very nice people and easy to ride for.
"I'm based with Noel Meade now. I was with Gordon Elliott and he was good to me as well." Braeside (2/1 into 6/4 favourite) and Spoken For (5s into 3s, finished 10th) were the ones for money in advance of this bumper but Limerick second placer Latest Exhibition had too much for all of them and eventually prevailed by four lengths.
Braeside finished second whilst twelve lengths back in third was Heroes Of Renown James Hannon lost his irons on this fellow two furlongs out.
“His mother Aura About You was the very same in that she would never show you much at home but she won at 25/1 in a maiden hurdle at Navan," said Paul Nolan.
“He’s the very same but you just love the way he does things. We brought him away last year to do a bit on grass and we were delighted knowing that we had something.
“I loved the way he galloped through the line there today.
“It was unfortunate for Sean that he missed the winner. I never met the lad who rode him before today.
“It makes up a bit for the other fella (Discorama) falling. He seems to be fine. I let him cool off for a while and he seems to be perfect.
“He was running a big race and was going to put it up to them.”
The Stewards interviewed M. Browne, rider of Latest Exhibition, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3.(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record into consideration cautioned the rider.
Mr J.W. Hannon, rider of Heroes Of Renown trained by J.Motherway, reported to the Clerk of Scales that he lost his irons two furlongs from home.
