Dylan Browne McMonagle completed a Dundalk treble today and completed the feat when steering the Ray Cody-trained Neddies Boy (2/1f) to win the Happy Valentine's Day From Dundalk Stadium Handicap (Div I).
Group 1-winning jockey Browne McMonagle, who spent time race-riding in Australia this winter, had earlier ridden Andalusian Star and dead-heater Beautiful Dawn to score for trainer Joseph O'Brien and completed his hat-trick on head winner Neddies Boy.
Neddies Boy had previously gone unclaimed for E8,000 following a course run in a January Claimer but was later purchased by Cody, who today commented “that is mighty altogether and I'm delighted to get a win out of him.
“He's a good honest horse and in all fairness to Robbie Burns (previous trainer), he came to me fit. I did nothing only keep him ticking over since I got him. He had a great run the last day when an eye-catcher in a claimer.”
He added "Dylan actually said that 1m4f is the minimum for him, he reckons two miles would suit and the further he goes, the better. I'd say if he comes back here he will go up in trip.
"I bought him basically to go hurdling as I think he'll make a smashing hurdler. He loves that surface and will be a real summer horse over hurdles.
"We might move him on (sell) again down the line."
