Jockey Gavin Brouder completed a 356/1 double at Sligo today as the 7lbs claimer landed consecutive handicap hurdles, winning a Adare Manor Opportunity-sponsored race on trainer Norman Lee's 16/1 chance Oskar High
Successful on 20/1 veteran My Manekineko half an hour earlier, Brouder steered Oskar High to a third career win and afterwards Lee said “he’s a lovely horse belonging to two great owners of ours (Addergoole More Partnership).
“He was right down in the weights and he did it well. The ground turned right for him because he loves yielding ground. He jumped like a stag and Gavin gave him a great spin. You can’t beat a lad who’ll do what he’s told - he went wide so as not to be on the chopped-up ground.
“He’ll go for something similar in a fortnight’s time.”
Regarding his Grade 3 winning stable star Sole Pretender, which finished eighth in last month's Galway Hurdle, he added “he’s on a little break. He’ll run again in November all going well, but he’ll have six weeks off first and then we’ll build him up again.”
