Brouder's Harvest Festival gets even better Turnpike Trip (2/1, from 5/2 on course) made it two wins from three starts over hurdles when taking the Gas Networks Ireland Novice Hurdle. He put in a good round of jumping under Kevin Brouder (third winner of the week at his local track), led after three out and defeated Quartz Du Rheu (4/6 fav) by four lengths. Twice a winner on the level for Henry Candy, the Champs Elysees five-year-old won his maiden hurdle at Cork before finishing second to Fast Buck at the Galway Festival. “The bit of experience won the day as he's deadly to jump, said winning trainer Charles Byrnes. "He's definitely a lot slicker than the favourite. “He'd a very good run in Galway. I thought the ground in Galway was a bit on the fast side for him, and it is lovely jumping ground here. “We'll probably keep him going and step him up in grade. He is handicapped on the Flat but we'll probably leave him on the Flat until next year. “The owner Peter Acheson is a former Tipperary Football Captain, and the colours are from his club (Moyle Rovers). He is living in Dubai.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee
