Bridge completes Navan treble for O'Brien Aidan O'Brien landed 1m 5f Excelebration Maiden for the sixth year in-a-row, as his Immortal Bridge got up close home to provide his trainer with a treble on the card. Well-beaten on his first two starts, the son of Fastnet Rock was a closer fifth on his most recent outing at Gowran. Sent off a 6/1 chance today he was settled behind the leaders by Donnacha O'Brien. He was ridden in third from three furlongs out, and hit the front at the two furlong pole. He was headed by newcomer Magnolia Rose with over a furlong to race, but he battled back gamely inside the final furlong, getting up to score by half a length. Magnolia Rose (14/1 from 5's this morning) had to settle for second under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld, while the 6/4 favourite Successor was another half a length back in third under Seamie Heffernan for Aidan O'Brien. Joseph O'Brien said afterwards: "He's very lazy but he stays well. "He'll probably go for a handicap now. The good ground was probably a help to him being a Fasnet Rock." Aidan O'Brien was earlier successful with Washington DC and Bondi Beach, while he also landed the French 2000 Guineas with The Gurkha. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
