Breeze impresses as Elliott doubles up Gordon Elliott doubled his score at Thurles when Indigo Breeze came in from his position as first reserve to win the Munster INH Flat Race in the hands of Jamie Codd. Not surprisingly the 4/7 victor, a seven and a half length scorer here, impressed Codd, who said: "He is very very nice and is owned by Gearoid Costelloe and won a point to point-bumper in England and couldn't get him sold off the back of it. "We were lucky enough to get him at Gordon's and he is a beautiful horse and is a half-brother to a very good horse, Brindisi Breeze. "He is a big strong horse, is a jumper, handles soft ground and is one of our nicer young ones." Elliott was also on the mark at the County Tipperary venue with the Gavin Brouder-partnered, The Bosses Oscar, in the He’llberemembered Hurdle. That fellow got home by two and a quarter lengths from Rightplacerightime and survived a steward’s enquiry. It was much easier for Indigo Breeze, who was always looking good down the straight. Point-to-point scorer Salt Wind chased home, whilst the gambled-on Ricky Bobby finished fifth. The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P.L. Malone, that Mr. J.M. Burke, rider of Popular Lane, had presented himself to weigh out at 2 lbs overweight which was not declared at declaration time. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that this was the case. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the overweight on this occasion but were satisfied that Mr. J.M. Burke was in breach of both Rule 195 and Rule 198 and having considered his record, they issued a fine of €150 on this occasion. (TW & EM)
