The opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C&G) Maiden was won in battling fashion by 7/4 joint favourite Brazil ridden by Wayne Lordan.
Fitted with blinkers for the first time on his third start, the Galileo colt made the running but came under pressure a fair way from home and looked in trouble entering the final quarter mile when pressed by the other 7/4 joint favourite Colour Sergeant and Flying Visit
Lordan’s mount found plenty for pressure to ultimately see off that pair by a neck and half a length.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained winner is a full-brother to Irish Derby and Doncaster St. Leger winner Capri and recent 1m6f Group 3 winner Passion.
The winning rider said: “He stuck at it well, and the first time blinkers helped him to travel and go forward. When they joined me it helped me and he battled out well to the line.
“He’s a horse on pedigree that is going to stay much further so you would be hoping that next year there is going to be plenty of improvement.”
