Kilcaragh Boy landed a gamble in Roscommon and gave 7lb-claimer Conor Brassil a 373/1 double on the card.
John Neilan 's seven-year-old gelding opened at 16/1 and was well punted to 10s. By The Banks tried to give his rivals the slip as he swung for home in this two mile handicap hurdle.
He travelled well for Rachael Blackmore but was ridden after the third last and held a lead of a couple of lengths at the penultimate hurdle.
Kilcaragh Boy was hard ridden by Brassil to try and close on By The Banks approaching the last.
On the run-in, Brassil got a good response from his mount who thundered home to get up and beat By The Banks (5/1jf) by half a length.
John Neilan said: "He always works well but it was too soft for him the last day and he has also been unlucky a few times.
"Conor gave him a good ride and kept to the better ground on the outside and his claim was also a big help.
"He'll go for something similar next and is a real two-mile horse." Icelip kept on for third at 6/1. He was beaten five and a quarter lengths by the winner. Right Turn Clive completed the placings in fourth at 16/1.
Brassil had earlier scored on 33/1 shot Herbiegoesbananas in the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle.
