Edward O'Grady and Andrew McNamara completed a double when Manhattan Boy (3/1 into 5/2) landed the www.thetote.com Galway Plate Trial Handicap Chase. This German bred son of Monsun scored by three lengths from Glacial Promise and he was adding to the earlier gains for Ballynonty with Armaramak
It could have been different for Glacial Promise had he not made a mistake at the second last whilst the well-backed joint favourite, Dream Champion can also be considered a bit unlucky as he made a bad mistake at the fifth last and eventually stayed on to take fourth.
O’Grady said: "We schooled him over ten fences this morning and that put the finishing touches on him. He is just not as good over fences as he is over hurdles. He'll be entered in the Galway Plate but I wouldn't say he has any chance of getting into it."
There is concern that Andrew McNamara will miss some of the Galway Festival after picking up a 5-day ban for failing to weigh in after finishing second in the opener on Golden Grimshaw
