Bowensonfire was left to come home a clear winner of the two-mile maiden hurdle at Limerick when Beckistine crashed out at the final flight.

The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding went to post a 10/11 shot and was produced to dispute jumping the second last, by Sam Ewing.

He was joined at that flight by Beckistine and the two had it between them going to the final flight.

Mark Molloy ’s charge had the narrow advantage over the last but crashed out on landing, leaving Bowensonefire to come home a cosy 13-length winner over long-time leader Kentucky Beach

The winner had been third on his first two outings over timber.

Stable representative Lisa O’Neill said:- "He is a grand horse and did things professionally today and settled a lot better.

“Sam got him jumping really well and it was good to get the win on the board.

"Sam thought he might have been beaten jumping the last but he hadn't gone for everything either. He said he'd be better on nicer ground and hopefully he can build on that now."
