Blue Lord (2/1) made it six wins from seven starts over fences with a thumping eleven length victory in the Grade One Paddy's Rewards Club Chase.
Daryl Jacob settled the Blue Bresil gelding in behind a contested pace and he moved into contention after the second-last where 6/4 favourite Chacun Pour Soi moving nicely into the race himself, blundered his chance away. Blue Lord got by Captain Guinness on the approach to the last and there was no idling in front from the seven-year-old on this occasion as he went right away on the run-in.
Winning trainer Willie Mullins, making it three for the day already after Tekao and Dysart Dynamo said: “That was very smart, I thought they'd go too fast for him here and they did go fast.
“I was looking at two-and-a-half miles for him this year but it looks like he could be a Champion Chase horse after that performance.
“Certainly the dial is coming back to two miles now rather than going out to two-and-a-half. It just means he's improving.
“I haven't thought about where he goes but I'm sure there is a programme there for those two mile horses.
“He got a great opportunity to settle in behind those front-runners today and that brought out the best in him.”
