Summer Isles continued her rejuvenation in form when readily defying a 15lbs hike for a recent win when bolting up in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Handicap at Dundalk today.
Ridden by Danny Grant, the filly made all and stretched well clear inside the final furlong for an eased down four and three quarters legnths win over Under Review
The winner had fallen from an initial rating of 73 in Britain to 48 when successful at Bellewstown last month and while winning trainer Pat Flynn, turned 57 today, wasn't present for his birthday gift, Grant later stated ““she's improving all the time and the good thing about her is the way she gets away from the gates. She's gone and into her stride straight away.”
“I was surprised how far she was in front when I looked around and she's done it easily. Hopefully the handicapper won't hit her too much.
“There is nothing around at this level as quick as her. There is no point taking a pull as she's keen and it's better to just let her use her stride.”
