Birmingham Alabama (9/4f) scored on her second start of 2025 today as the Eamonn Delany-trained mare landed Punchestown’s Festival 2025 Hospitality Selling Fast Novice Handicap Hurdle under jockey Jordan Gainford.

The six-year-old mare had previously won a maiden hurdle last July and, having finished third at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day, today was ridden-out on the run-in to score by a length from Lehaunstown

Alan Delany, the trainer’s son and assistant, reported “it’s great to get it done. It probably wasn’t the strongest race, but they all take winning.

“She would possibly be better if she got a bit more of a lead, being left on her own in front didn’t really suit us but she kept going and we’re delighted to get it. We think she’s not too bad and hopefully she’ll get another day.”
