Golden Silver completed a big Cork double for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend when half-an-hour after Quel Esprit s romp in the staying novice hurdle, Golden Silver took the Grade 2 O'Connell Warehousing Hilly Way Chase.
In the Florida Pearl silks of Violet O'Leary, Townend and his cousin Davy Condon aboard Watson Lake had this between them up the straight. Golden Silver cruised to the front two out but he hit the last quite hard.
On the run-in, the young Cork star let his mount glide home and with Condon rallying Watson Lake, there was only a length between them at the line.
Gary Davies, representing Willie Mullins, said: "The trip and ground was ideal but he'll come on a lot from it. There should be a lot more to come from him as Paul said he wasn't doing a whole lot during the race.
"We got a bit of a fright at the last and I ended up shouting at the screen when Paul started easing up."
Golden Silver was completing a treble of Hilly Way Chases for Willie Mullins who captured the two miler in 2007 with Our Ben and a year ago Scotsirish landed the prize for Closutton.
