Fran Berry made good use of the stands rail on board Inishmot Duchess when landing the six furlong handicap at Cork from Chris Hayes and Khelino
The two horses pulled clear and raced almost the width of the track apart but in the end Inishmot Duchess prevailed by three parts of a length.
Winning trainer Tom McCourt said: “She travelled well. I was hoping the ground wasn’t too quick for her.
“The slower the ground the better. She’ll go for something similar.”
Inishmot Duchess was nibbled at on course from 14/1 to an SP of 12/1. Maundays Bay was backed into 5/1 favouritism from 7/1 but finished tenth.
Jim Bolger’s Noimead Draiochta running in his first handicap, stayed on from last place to finish third.
