Georgie Benson was seen to good effect when giving Sam Magee a power-packed drive to take the Race And Stay Ladies Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse.
The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding needed to be rousted along after a mistake four out and appeared set for second place as St Denis’s Well travelled well in front after two out.
However, Sam Magee got the better of the jumping at the final fence and the well-backed 6/1 shot stayed on gamely to beat St Denis’s Well by two and a half lengths.
Toofareastisweat finished a further nine lengths back in third.
De Bromhead said, I'm delighted with that, Georgie gave him a super ride.
“He jumped great bar one mistake at the fourth last. It's great for the Brookhouses and it's great to get it.
“She did exactly what she said she wanted to do.
“Hopefully he's back on track now, he was a bit disappointing during the summer. He stays well and likes a bit of nice-ish ground.”
