James McAuley's Beleaguerment just prevailed in a tight finish to the six furlong handicap at Dundalk tonight. Brokers Tip made a bold bid from the front in the race but was collared late on by Beleaguerment and Shane Foley.

The eventual winner (15/2) was joined passing the line by Teddy Boy however, and only had a nose to spare in a photo.

Beleaguerment was recording his second win since joining McAuley having also won over course and distance in October.

McAuley said: "Shane hasn't been riding him the last five or six times and he does get on particularly well with him. He has been unlucky and running into traffic.

"I was away in Vegas and only got back at 7 this morning, I think I'm heading for being up 36 hours!

"Before we got him, he was better on turf and will go back on it for his grade. He generally runs his race and to be fair to him he is fairly consistent.”
