Orangey Red followed-up on her recent win at Listowel, as she took the opener at Fairyhouse this evening, the Club Or Charity Fundraisers at Fairyhouse Fillies Race.
A dual winner for Dermot Weld and Moyglare Stud Farm, the daughter of Lawman was bought by current owners Ringfort Stud Limited for just E9,000 at Goffs last November.
Now under the care of Bill Farrell, she was fifth and eighth on first two starts for her new connections, before winning at Listowel last time out.
Upped just three pounds for that success, she was settled in fourth by Pat Smullen, improving a place into third as they entered the straight.
She was ridden in pursuit of the leader Music Box from the two furlong pole, and she gradually reeled that rival in inside the final furlong, going on to score by half a length.
The winner was returned at 10/3, while the runner-up (Music Box) was a 5/2 joint-favourite under Ana O'Brien for her father Aidan. Virtudes was the other joint-favourite, and she finished a disappointing last under Billy Lee for Willie McCreery.
Pat Smullen said afterwards: "She showed good battling qualities. Connections were a bit worried about backing up a bit soon, and she didn't travel as well as at Listowel.
"She dug deep when I needed her, and she is getting it together now."
