Baily Thunder makes winning chase debut under Enright The Brenda Anderson Memorial Beginners Chase went to chasing debutant Baily Thunder (11/4), who led after two out and went away to beat Golden Nomad by eight lengths. In an eventful contest, the 2/1 favourite Aprils Joy was brought down by the fall of Summer Hill at the fifth last fence. The Mouse Morris-trained 6-year-old was following up a handicap hurdle win at the same venue last month. Winning rider Phillip Enright said: “He handled the track well here the last day and the conditions of today’s race suited him. “I was talking to Mouse last week and I thought it would be an ideal race for him when he handles the track. “He was a bit novicey earlier but his jumping came together. The race fell apart a bit so how strong it ended up being, I don’t know. The two horses and jockeys got up, I think. That’s the main thing. “The win the last day probably did his confidence good. He is a summer horse and hopefully he can build on that.
