Back Burner gives Harrington an across-card double Back Burner’s win in the Stillorgan Handicap at Leopardstown gave Jessica Harrington an across the card double after Citizenship won well on the afternoon card at Killarney. The four-year-old son of Big Bad Bob was a 6/1 shot at Foxrock this evening, but had form to turn round with Strandfield Lady who had beaten him into seventh on 14 June here. The form was turned around convincingly as Back Burner, on his second appearance of the season, kept on well in the final furlong of the one mile one furlong contest for a two length decision over Vastonea (4/1). Castle Bar Sling showed a welcome return to form at 16/1 in third. Strandfield Lady could only manage sixth today at 8/1 while quadruple seeking Happy Anniversary, who was stepping up in class and racing from out of the handicap, was the 10/3 favourite. She held every chance when prominent two furlongs out but faded to seventh. Successful trainer Jessica Harrington said: “I’m delighted. The ground can’t be too bad. That’s only his second run this year because of the ground. “I don’t think he’ll go to Galway as I don’t think he’ll handle it. We’ll see what the handicapper does. He’s edging up a bit in the handicap.” Michael Graham (on course reporting by Gary Carson)
