Mary Reveley has confirmed that the progressive Brother Of Iris has been entered for the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup, for which entries closed today.
However, she warned that the seven-year-old has something to prove before being talked about in the same breath as See More Business.
The latter is favourite for chasing's Blue Riband following his impressive win in the Pertemps King George VI Chase and Mrs Reveley reasoned: "I think the press has hyped Brother Of Iris up a lot, Scotton Green (who he beat at Wetherby) was well beaten when he went south."
And when asked if people were trying to find something to beat See More Business she added with a smile: "I think they are having a struggle!
"It would be a dream to run the horse if we got him there well, but he is a long way off a Gold Cup winner yet."
Having missed the Tote Silver Cup at Ascot last month because of a slight setback, Brother of Iris is now pencilled in for the Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster later this month.
Mrs Reveley added: "We will know more after that, he has gone up a lot in the weights and it will be a more competitive race. We will have to see how he goes, but he is back in work and seems fine."
Brother Of Iris is 12-1 third favourite with Ladbrokes for the Gold Cup at Cheltenham on March 16th.
