Robson Aguiar partnered the appropriately named Ascot Dreamer to win the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Handicap (div 1) at Dundalk today as the breeze-up consignor and successful 'dream seller' scored a 33/1 shock win on the Mark Fagan trained winner.
The winning jockey trades as Aguiar Bloodstock Ltd in his breeze-up business and had high profile success with Summer Sands this year.
Bought as a yearling for just GBP2,000, the son of Coach House breezed as a two year old for Aguiar and was then sold for GBP85,000 to join trainer Richard Fahey last April.
Aguiar's involvement with Summer Sands ended at that point but the colt, who competed at Royal Ascot, filled third place in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket in September before selling to trainer Joseph O'Brien for a whopping 625,000gns in October.
Following Ascot Dreamer's win, Aguiar said “she's always worked well but she's never tried as hard as she does at home.
“She did it well today and confirmed how she works.
“She travelled very well and when I asked her to quicken she's quickened and finished well.”
