Strong-travelling Arthur's Baby (11/2) was a decisive winner of the Mallow Mares Handicap Hurdle in Cork.
She was absolutely tanking along in third before the penultimate flight and landed in second.
The hard-ridden leader Boston Babe was a sitting duck and was soon readily passed with jockey Phillip Enright motionless in the plate.
A lovely jump at the last allowed Enright to have a peek over his shoulder as his mount glided home by a comfortable two and three quarter lengths, in the first-time tongue-strap. Deauville Society was backed from 7/1 to 9/2 and came in second. She was eight and a half lengths clear of 40/1 shot Boston Babe.
Trainer Mark McNiff said: "For a big mare, she obviously wants better ground.
"She is 16.3hh and is more a chaser than hurdler, but hasn't had niceish ground since her point-to-point; she was very good in her point to points."
The winning owner, Dermot Kelly, is from Draperstown in Co Derry.
