Aratori fulfilled the promise of her debut effort at the Curragh 12 days ago when stepping forward to land the TRI Equestrian Maiden this evening.
The Caravaggio filly had lost out by a neck to My Eyes Adore You first time and went to post 5/2 favourite to go one better.
Chris Hayes was soon prominent on the Eddie and Patrick Harty-trained filly, in the six-furlong contest. and she had a narrow lead at halfway.
The grey had her rivals at work passing the two pole and kept on well when asked for an effort over a furlong out, going on to post a two-length win over Grigal
“That was nice and she's a nice filly. She didn't have to improve on the first day,” said Harty senior.
“She's a gorgeous filly but she's very big and very straight as you can see.
“She's very nicely bred so has some paddock value now and realistically you'd have to look up the food-chain a bit from here on in.
“She looked like a filly that only did enough, she seemed to be cruising there and then when the other horse dropped away it was like 'what will I do now'. Then when they came to her she quickened away.”
When asked if he would try to get some black-type in the future he added:- “I would hope so though they are like hen's teeth those ones and you appreciate them when they come along.
“Inexperience beat her first time out but she took from it today. She's still inexperienced but she's bred well enough to be good.”
