Dazzling Susie put in another excellent front running display as she trounced the opposition to take the Tyrellspass Novice Chase in impressive style under Tom Doyle.
Trained by John Phelan, the 7yo daughter of Stowaway won on her first start over fences at Clonmel earlier this month in similar fashion.
She soon led after the start and went well clear. She jumped well before making a bad mistake at the fourth last.
However she recovered from that error and stayed on well from there to score easily by twenty four lengths. Glibin finished best of the rest along way back in second at 8/1 for Colin Bowe and Andrew McNamara while the 5/4 favourite Carlito Brigante was a further fifth seven lengths back in third for Davy Russell and Gordon Elliott.
The winner was well supported and after opening this morning at 11/4 she opened on track at just 2/1 before being backed into 13/8 at the off.
Winning trainer John Phelan, who trains in Dunhill, Co Waterford, said afterwards: "She is a once in a lifetime horse. She is unreal.
"She hit that fence (fourth last) pretty hard. She’ll go home now and into her stable and the first thing she will look for is food!
"We will have to have a think where she will go now. I was a bit afraid today as she was a bit wound up before going out.
"Tom was over the moon with her. After we schooled her over fences for the first time I said she was exceptional."
The winner was previously trained by John O’Callaghan and she won two bumpers and a maiden hurdle for him. She was having just her fourth start for Phelan this evening.
