Jacobs Well under Ross Coakley, was the second consecutive 25/1 winner at Navan today as the Noel Hynds trained gelding came to the rescue of layers of 6/5 favourite and runner-up Bunk Off Early which matched at 1.01 in-running.
Bunk Off Early, under a mandatory 5lbs penalty for winning at Cork on Saturday, was officially 9lbs well-in and having been backed at 2/1 in the morning, was returned a heavily backed favourite.
The 'jolly' appeared to have the race in safe keeping inside the final furlong but outsider Jacobs Well finished much stronger to edge past in the closing strides for a neck win.
Afterwards Co Down based Hynds, having his first flat winner, stated "that's only my third flat runner as I only took out a flat licence recently, and my first flat runner was at Dundalk last Friday.
"He's in again at Leopardstown on Sunday and, if he comes out of this race well, he could go there. That's my first winner for the owners, Kieran Burke and Bernice Boyle from Newry."
Jacobs Well's win at 25/1 was following on half an hour later, from Dinozzo s similarly priced win in the earlier maiden.
