The James Fahey trained Angelsworknovrtime ran out an impressive winner of Division ll of the Massey Ferguson Johnston Farm Equipment Longford Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan.
Despite having failed to get her head in front on 23 previous starts, the eight-year-old made short work of her rivals here under Alex Harvey.
Prominent in the leading half dozen throughout, Harvey closed on the leaders after the third last, pressing pace setter Toor Moon on the run to the penultimate flight.
With the latter making a bad mistake at that obstacle, Harvey seized the initiative, kicking clear into the straight.
With the daughter of Sageburg galloping on strongly, she put 11 lengths between herself and her pursuers at the line.
“I'm delighted that she's finally done it, she took her time,” said James Fahey.
“I just hope the handicapper doesn't go mad because on paper it wasn't the greatest race.
“It's job done and I'm just delighted for the filly more than anything, that she got her head in front finally.
“There is a beginners chase for mares in Tramore and she might turn up there.”
