Amedeo Modigliani gets the job done The Aidan O'Brien trained Amedeo Modigliani got off the mark on his second start, as he ran out an easy winner of the Galway Shopping Centre Irish EBF Maiden under Seamie Heffernan.. O'Brien and Heffernan struck with subsequent Irish Derby hero Capri in this race twelve months ago, and they followed up on that success with this 2/9 chance. A good third on debut to stable mate Gustav Klimt, the son of Galileo was settled in third by Heffernan. He came with his challenge in the straight and hit the front from the furlong pole, staying on strongly to score by five and a half lengths. The front-running Crecerelle finished second under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld at 6/1. Heffernan said afterwards: "He is a decent horse. We really fancied him and it would have been disappointing to get beaten. He done well. "He is a Galileo, they have a big will, he was a short price and it went well. "I couldn't be happier with him, it was nice and easy." STEWARDS REPORT Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer of Rhythm Of Love, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that the saddle slipped on his charge early in this race. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
