Epsom Derby runner-up Ambiente Friendly will bid to go one better in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday week, June 30, and Rob Havlin is looking forward to partnering him again.

The James Fanshawe-trained colt won the Lingfield Derby Trial in impressive fashion before beating all bar City Of Troy at Epsom and has taken those exertions well.

“He seems to have come out of the Epsom race even more relaxed than he went into it,” Havlin told broadcaster Dave Keena.

“He’s growing up the whole time and each race he’s had has been a progression and not a regression. He’s learned something and taken something from it.

“He nearly over raced a tad up the hill at Epsom, but it helped to get him a good position. I was mindful of that coming down the hill that his stamina wasn’t going to run out.

“He stayed well but the winner just stayed that bit better.”

Ambiente Friendly is currently a general 5/4 favourite for the Curragh classic with Epsom third Los Angeles a 6/4 chance.
