Alou rewards punters at Punchestown Golden Alou landed a bit of a touch (7/1 to 100/30) in the Thoroughbred Trail Weekend Maiden Hurdle at Punchestown. Lenny Flynn hit the lead after four out on the gelding and he survived an untidy jump at the last to post a two-and-a-half length success over Ballymak. "He deserves that. I've been trying for nearly two years with him," said winning trainer Maureen Danagher. "On his last three runs he's just happened to meet good horses. He was unlucky at Listowel last time but was just beaten by a better horse on the day. "I might just give him a break until after Christmas now as he's been in all summer. "I'll wait and see how he comes out of this. But he handled that ground well today so I don't know for certain."
