Alamshar may race as a four year old.

Trainer John Oxx has indicated that the Aga Khan is likely to keep Classic winner Alamshar in training next season.

Alamshar, a big disappointment in the Champion Stakes at Leopardstown, was reported to be on course for a four year old career, with Oxx stating 'The plan at the moment is that he will probably race as a four year old. We will not be able to say for sure what is going to happen until we get to the end of the season.'

Alamshar, thus, could become the Aga Khan´s first top class colt to race as a four year old, with past stars Shergar, Darshaan, Shahrastani, Khayasi, Doyoun and Sinndar all retired to stud aged three.

Oxx also indicated that the Irish Derby and King George VI winner will not contest the Breeders´ Cup Turf at Santa Anita 'I feel he may be better going right handed. It wasn´t an issue that I was expecting but it looks that way and the tight track at Santa Anita might not be his cup of tea.'

He added 'I believe that the plan is for Dalakhani to be His Highness´ Arc runner and that Alamshar will not take him on. If Dalakhani were to suffer any kind of setback, the Arc would be the obvious race for Alamshar.'
