It is no surprise that international racegoers flock to the Curragh for Irish St Leger day when four Group 1 races - including the final Classic of the season - along with a Group 2 and fiercely competitive handicaps are awaiting them at Ireland’s premier Flat track.

A mouthwatering day of racing awaits and presents the perfect opportunity to find value.

On a day when fancies are plentiful, BoyleSports are offering Irish punters €50 in free bets.

Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Flying Five Stakes (Group 1)

Art Power boasts an unblemished record in Ireland, with five consecutive wins, and he's been victorious on all four of his outings at the Curragh. One of those wins came over course and distance in July in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes, although that came on soft ground and Tim Easterby’s six-year-old might be more effective over six furlongs.

Last year’s winner of the race Highfield Princess looks likely to defend her crown and end Art Power’s commendable run in Ireland.

The tough and doughty mare has displayed remarkable consistency this season, striking in a Group 2 at Goodwood and finishing a pleasing second in the Group 1 Nunthorpe at York - clear of Royal Ascot winner Bradsell. It is highly likely she can confirm that form, as she once again takes on her younger rival.

Admirable Group 3 winner, Moss Tucker, is in excellent heart ahead of today’s Flying Five. The consistent son of Excelebration won the Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh just last month and is expected to produce a bold showing,

Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1)

Minding and Love are among Aidan O’Brien’s past winners of the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and Ylang Ylang could be another exceptional filly for Ballydoyle. The two-year-old daughter of Frankel is unbeaten on both her starts and looks likely to land the hat-trick with the form of her last race in Leopardstown in July working out well. The good ground will suit her better than the soft ground she won on that day after Ryan Moore described her as a ‘very low’ mover.

Vespertilio finished one-and-a-half lengths behind Ylang Ylang in that Leopardstown contest and has since won a Group 2 impressively. With that additional experience under her belt, she could be a big danger

Frankie Dettori heads over and takes the ride aboard Royal Ascot winner Porta Fortuna. That win in the Albany Stakes looks strong with three in behind her that day having won since.

Red Viburnum, who finished third on her racecourse debut, is highly regarded by connections and may be considered the biggest threat.

Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes (Group 1)

City Of Troy is favourite for next year’s 2,000 Guineas following his devastating victory in the Group 2 Superlative at Newmarket and deserves to be odds-on favourite for today’s Group 1. Following that win Aidan O’Brien was very effusive in his praise for the son of Justify:

“Ryan was delighted with him. He said he was very frightened going past the winning post, he said it's the first time he's ever ridden a two-year-old that he thought wasn't going to pull up. He said going to the winning post he just started to get longer and longer in his stride and galloped down to the boards.”

He added:

“He's a medium-sized horse with a giant stride. He's very unusual, his stride is kind of twice the length of his body.”

There are some talented performers taking him on, including Bucanero Fuerte who won the Group 1 Pheonix Stakes by four lengths last time out and stablemate Henry Longfellow who struck in a Group 2.

Comer Group International Irish St. Leger (Group 1)

Aidan O’Brien is chasing his seventh success in this Classic with last year’s winner Kyprios well-fancied to follow up. The only doubt is the long layoff of 344 days although he only takes on only four rivals including Emily Dickinson who prefers soft ground.

The tough and relaxed stayer was a 20-length winner of the Prix De Cadran at Longchamp and should be hard to beat if he returns in top shape.

English St Leger winner Eldar Eldavrov hasn’t won since his Classic victory last September although Queen Alexandra winner Dawn Rising looks to be one on the up who could pose the biggest threat to the favourite.
