A 3rd win of the year for Fethard Billy Treacy's Fethard Player landed his third win of the year when capturing the Woodlands Hotel Adare Handicap Hurdle at Tipperary under Robbie Moran. Favourite Portrade made a good go of it from the front but Fethard Player was on terms two out and he soon led. Waydownsouth was still there with a chance when departing at the penultimate flight and eventually Fethard Player (8/1) went on to account for the aforementioned Portrade by three lengths. Top Spin (second favourite at 10/3) finished a head off that one in third. The Stewards received a report from A.E. Lynch rider of Portrade, who stated his mount jumped a hurdle on the way to the start, despite his best efforts to avoid doing so. Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the report, the Stewards took no further action. (TW & EM)
