95-rated Yuften wins Dundalk's opening claimer Ninety-five rated Yuften was the highest rated runner in an Irish Claimer for some years when contesting the opening Dundalk Stadium Claiming Race at Dundalk today and the gelding duly won on his debut for trainer Johnny Feane. Yuften finished fifth in the 2014 renewal of the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and today the seven year old routed his rivals under 7lbs claiming jockey David Simmonnson, when justifying 6/4 favouritism. Yuften was later the subject of a friendly claim by Feane himself and immediately following the race, the trainer said “we bought him for 7,500gns a couple of weeks ago. He was a good buy and he might be a good claim for someone. “I'd say he has plenty of problems. It's grand and he won well. It's good profit in a couple of weeks. “He's a nice horse but you don't know how he's going to be in the morning. “There will probably be plenty of claims in for him and we'll probably put in one or two ourselves. “He's getting old and as you get older you don't get any sprightlier!” Runner-up Hasselnott was claimed by the Sunday Racing Club to be trained by Denis Hogan.
