Division one of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden at Sligo went to 80/1 chance Kourvoisier for Ross O’Sullivan and Tom Madden.
Another outsider, Feelfreetojumpin shaped well on the front end for much of the journey before ultimately fading to finish towards the back.
At that stage Kourvoisier was only getting going and she eventually relegated market-leaders Lough Swilly Pearl Call Of The Jungle and Gulf Of Aidan into second, third and fourth positions.
The distances were half a length, a neck and a length.
“That’s a bit of a shock. She ran in a good maiden at Naas and came on a good bit from it. She’s a massive big filly, she’s 16.3,” said O’Sullivan.
“She has a very good pedigree and a couple of lads from Meath who have had different horses with me over the years bought her as a foal.
“She’s a maiden winner now with a good dam line so she will be a lovely mare to breed off.
“Her work was good early on and I was disappointed with her in Naas but Tom said she was completely at sea. He’d ridden her in her work and said she’d be a different filly the next day.
“She was far more relaxed today. The last day she got all wound up and worried about the whole thing.”
The Stewards enquired into an incident after the turn into the straight involving Call Of The Jungle, ridden by N.M. Crosse, placed third, Feelfreetojumpin, ridden by A.C. Persse, unplaced and Lough Swilly Pearl, ridden by K.J. Leonard, placed second, where it appeared that Call Of The Jungle was tight for room when racing close to the running rail.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action.
