There was a quick double in the chases on the card at Kilbeggan's final fixture of the year, as Charles Brynes and Donie McInerney took the 6.55 with Rock On Fruity
J P McManus' eight-year-old, already a course victor at the County Westmeath venue, was an 8/1 chance for the Like Kilbeggan On Facebook Handicap Chase, but those odds were looking generous come the business end of this marathon.
Top-weight and favourite Net D'Ecosse was also giving his supporters hope approaching the last in the three mile one furlong event.
However, he couldn't match Rock On Fruity on the run-in, and the margin between them at the line was five and a half lengths.
McInerney brought home the gambled-on Rosie Alice in the previous heat in the colours of the Byrnsey Boys Syndicate.
"It's great to get the double," said Byrnes.
"He'll tip away in those type of races. Maybe the Munster National might be an option if he creeps into it.
"It's hard to get into those races. We'll look at anything he gets into off 11 stone or lower because he wouldn't be a horse to carry a big weight.
"It's a good night's work so it's great."
