30/1 Clonmel double for McDonogh After his opening race win on Elusive In Paris Declan McDonogh doubled his Clonmel score aboard the easy-to-back Scealai Aonair (10/1) in the BBQ Race Evening Friday June 8th Handicap. Formerly a runner in the President's colours when with Dermot Weld, the daughter of Fastnet Rock here scored on outing number two for the Gordon Elliott Racing Club and the Cullentra House Stables maestro. After prevailing by three lengths and two and a half lengths from Verse Of Love and the gambled-on Constable Buckley, McDonogh said: "She had pace from the gates to get a good position and travelled good and put the race to bed nicely. "She handled the ground well and Gordon said that she'd be a little bit sharper today (than at Cork) and he was right. She is quite a big mare, is out of a Sadler's Wells mare and stays well." L.F. Roche, rider of Lizard Point trained by Patrick J.Flynn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right throughout. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Dressednblack trained by Timothy Doyle was found to have pulled her right hind shoe. (TW & EM)
