Despite market weakness on track Masons Daughter (8/13 out to 5/6) prevailed in the Get Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Mares Novice Hurdle at Kilbeggan. Awayinthewest and stable companion Robin De Carlow (7/2 into 9/4) gave the pace setting winner a late fright, but she found enough on the run-in to fend off that pair by a length and a half and three parts of a length.
Patrick Mullins rode Masons Daughter for his father Willie and the all-time leading amateur said: "I think she is quite good, and she looks a real two-miler because she's quite keen and likes to get on with it. She's very quick over her hurdles.
"We leased her off John Hallahan. She is quite tricky and a bit of a madam but has plenty of ability. I think over two miles on good ground it would take a good mare to catch her. I'd be disappointed if she doesn't get black-type.
"I organised the lease which is why I get the leg over her.
"I asked her to pop the last and she ended up coming right underneath me and we lost about two lengths. But she went on again when I asked her."
