Skeaping completed a 230/1 double for Davy Russell, as he recorded his first success over flights in the Team Powerstown Handicap Hurdle.

Successful on the level when trained by Richard Hannon, the son of Excellent Art filled the runner-up spot on four occasions for Elliott, and was tried in cheekpieces for the first time this evening.

Sent off an easy to back 20/1 chance, the six-year-old gelding came with his effort before two out and soon led, keeping on well from there to prevail by two and three parts of a length. Whatsinthecorner who was returned the 11/4 favourite, finished second under Tom Hamilton for John 'Shark' Hanlon, while Dasmyhoss (10/1) was a further two and a half lengths back in third.

Elliott's assistant, Ian 'Busty' Amond said afterwards: "It was a bit of surprise but he's done it well enough. He's had plenty of problems so it's nice to get a win out of him.

"He'll stay going over the summer and hopefully he'll win another one."
