2 on the board for Halford at 24/1 On his ninth attempt Bensoon got off the mark in division one of the Christmas Race & Dine Packages Apprentice Handicap under Conor Hoban, bringing up a 24/1 double for Mick Halford (earlier triumphed with Victor's Beach) in the process at Dundalk. Hoban was 'thanked' for his efforts when dumped by the Refuse To Bend gelding past the line as he appeared to shy away at the lights. The three-year-old had his job done at that stage and he passed the post three parts of a length to the good from Noverre Princess. Halford explained: "Conor said he just shied away from the lights at the line. "He probably deserved to win one. There was a fast early pace which suited, as he had a bad draw and Conor did well to get him into position. "He carried a good weight and it was a good performance." (AM & EM)
