There were two winning favourites on this Wednesday session at Dundalk and Shane 'Dusty' Foley will have endeared himself further to polytrack punters by getting both home in tight finishes. The Kilkenny man added to his earlier gains on Shannon Soul by capturing the finale, the Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap, on Elusive Laurence
Jessica Harrington 's Elusive Laurence went off the well-backed 13/8 market-leader, to gain a deserved win, with Foley taking the reins on her in a race for the first time.
Soon in front the Lawman filly was pressed all the way up the straight. In the end she kept Comedy Club (Fran Berry's third second of the night), Headlong and Be Seeing You at bay by a neck and a neck and a short head.
"It wasn't ideal being in front but she broke well. She's very genuine and after being taken on from early in the straight I had a very willing partner.
"She deserved that as she's been very unlucky not to have won before now," reasoned Foley.
The Stewards enquired into an incident soon after leaving the stalls involving Asknotwhat ridden by J.A. Heffernan, unplaced, Sparanai (USA), ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed fifth, Comedy Club, ridden by F.M. Berry, placed second, Zanouska (USA), ridden by E.J. McNamara, unplaced and Headlong, ridden by R. Coakley, placed third, where it appeared that some of the runners ran short of room and had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was accidental in nature and took no further action.
