'Improving' Killeaney Bear now three from his last four Andrew Slattery and Killeaney Bear stacked their rivals up in the concluding Racing Again October 1st Handicap over nine furlong in Cork, and kept up the gallop to land the spoils. The 9/2 shot began to crank up the pressure a furlong and a half from home and the pursuers struggled to eat into the length he took out of them. Koniag (8/1) and Tanazadia (11/8f) kept going, but remained second and third respectively (beaten three-parts of a length and a head). Trainer Andy Slattery said: "We made the running in Galway, but it didn't suit and, while we didn't want to make it today, they went no gallop and we prefer a faster pace. "He is a big raw horse, is 16.2hh and I think he will make a nice four-year-old. "We thought he was a nice two-year-old, he always showed a bit and he is a racy looking type. He is improving all the time and we might give him one more run before the end of the season." Killeaney Bear has now won three of his last four races. Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
