"Old rascal" Korbus wins another Dick Brabazon has been getting a nice tune from Korbus for a number of years now, and he came good for the fifth time in his career when short-heading Beechmount Whisper in the O'Neills Sports (QR) Handicap at Laytown. Katie Walsh was in the plate on the Choisir chestnut here, and he got to the front over a furlong out though he was all out to hold on at the finish from the strong-finishing silver medalist. "He travelled so well. He travelled terribly well in Killarney and he didn't quite find it. He's an old rascal. Even working at home, if he hits the front the worst horse in the Curragh can get to him!" said Brabazon. "He has had four consistent runs this year. We'll be careful with him, we are holding him together a bit. He's had lots of problems over the years. We might just say that's enough - one more race at the most. "It's mighty here! My dad told me the only time he met the Aga Khan was here. Dad had won the Oaks for him and he met him here." (MG & EM)
