It's brilliant to finally get him off the mark over hurdles. He'd been a small bit frustrating and had been finding it hard to find his form over hurdles. There was loads of pace and I just wanted to get a good start, a good jump at the first and get him into a rhythm. He jumped nicely the whole way and stayed on well after the last. He was getting plenty of weight from most of these and he'll tip away in handicaps now for the rest of the summer. C Byrnes, trainer

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately four furlongs from home involving Valsorpresa (GB), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, unplaced, If Any Man Can, ridden by L. Quinlan, unplaced, and Andyourbirdcansing, ridden by S. Fitzgerald, placed third, where it appeared numerous horses came close together

Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. L. Quinlan stated that he held his line and felt pressure from his inside. S. Fitzgerald stated that a gap appeared as there was no railing at this point of the track and he went for it

J.W. Kennedy stated that it got tight due to the layout of the track and he ran short of room. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Valsorpresa (GB), trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

A novice hurdle for four years old and upwards which at entry are rated 116 or less
Weights - 4-y-o 10st 10lbs 5-y-o and up 11st
Penalties - Performances before 18th July - for every 1lb above the rating of 102 1lb extra On or after 18th July - for each hurdle race won 7lb extra
