He’s after throwing away three races, and even the last day in a point-to-point he put in a slow jump at the last. He’d a bit of a leg problem last year but he came back. He handled the ground better than I thought he would but Turtle Island’s normally do. He will probably run in a handicap later in the year. The cheek-pieces helped him. W J Burke, trainer

The Stewards interviewed Mr P.A. King, rider of Captain Bizarro, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards wee of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulaton 10.3(f) and 10.4, in that he used the whip with excessive frequency, while without giving his mount time to respond and having considered his record, suspended him for one race day.
