That was as good a chance as he was going to get and it was a race he had a chance in - it was his Gold Cup,. You'd think in Gowran the last day that he was flying going across the top but then he couldn't even jump the last and I'd say it was just a handy race for him today. He has always run respectably and thank god he got there today as he couldn't go any lower in the handicap. He's in the perseverance race on the second day at Cheltenham! Sean Aherne, trainer

The Stewards requested a report from Sean Aherne, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Analyse That, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge had ran well on his previous run at Gowran Park until the turn into the home straight when failing quickly, on what he described as very testing ground conditions. He felt that a combination of a lesser race on more favourable ground conditions, had brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards rated 80-102
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 12st In; accordance with HRI Directive 3 (ii) (a); the maximum stipulated weight in this; race is 12st and the minimum stipulated; weight is 10st
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won.
Riders - Ladies who are Qualified under I.N.H.S. Rules. Ladies who are Professional under I.N.H.S. Rules (other than Apprentices) who have not lost the right to claim the 7lb allowance under Rule 52 (iii) (up to and including 19th February) may also ride in this race.
